My parents are Godly people, they grew up in the Methodist Church, attended chapel, where mum was a Sunday School Teacher, and dad was a lay preacher. Their received theology was a traditional one; there are no ghosts but the Holy Ghost.
It was a series of events that finally convinced this world view was wrong, culminating in my dad walking into my nursery and seeing a dark cloud hovering over me.
One night Elizabeth and I were asleep in one room. Charles had just begun sleeping in his own room next to ours. It began with the usual sound of something coming up the stairs. I knew it had entered Charles’ room so I leaped out of bed, rushed into the room and saw this dark cloud hovering over him. I immediately commanded it to leave in the name of Jesus and it left him alone.
I feel it only right to add that during the family's time at the Hall we experienced many hauntings and settled these incidences by using the name of Jesus. As things still seemed to be happening, Elizabeth and I decided that there were multiple spirits, which is not surprising because of the Hall's 700 year history. Together we commanded all malevolent spirits to go to the place reserved for them in Jesus' name. I can see after that session the Hall became quiet and when we moved I know it is at rest.
